Heterometrus silenus, also known as the Asian Forest Scorpion or the Malaysian Black Scorpion, is a terrestrial, tropical scorpion that is native to India, Malaysia and Indonesia.  Asian forest scorpions don't see very well, so they rely on touch. Stiff hairs on their pincers and pectines are used to sense their environment. -There are close to 2,000 species of scorpions in the world.
