Bearded dragons may sound fearsome, but they’re actually one of the most popular lizards kept as pets in the UK!
Bearded dragons are native to Australia but live in a range of different habitats, including deserts, shrublands, and woodlands Their name comes from the 'Beard' of scales around their neck. These scales act as both a mating display as well as a defence against predators. When they open their mouth, these scales puff out. When they’re used as a mating call, they change colour and turn black, hence the beard!
Not only can bearded dragons swim and regrow teeth but they can also change their colours! Wow
