Frequently Asked Questions

Which areas in the UK do you cover?

We primarily serve Hertfordshire and its surrounding areas from our base. This encompasses the entirety of Hertfordshire, a significant portion of North London, and select areas within Essex and Bedfordshire within a 25-mile radius. However, our ability to accommodate bookings in these areas depends on our assessment of ensuring the comfort of our animals during transit.
Please note that we are unable to attend venues or homes located beyond a 1-hour car journey from our base. This restriction is in place to ensure the well-being of our animals, particularly our cold-blooded reptiles, who require a consistent heat source for warmth. Long-distance travel can impose undue stress on these animals, thus necessitating a limit on travel distance.

How do I make a booking?

To start your booking, simply fill out our contact form or send us an email with some details about your event. Once we receive your inquiry, we’ll send you an email containing all the relevant service information along with a secure booking link.
From there, you’ll be asked to complete a short booking form with your event details. After submitting the form, you’ll receive an automated email from our booking system with payment instructions, including our bank details to pay the deposit and secure your date.
If your inquiry is urgent or time-sensitive, please don’t hesitate to call us directly on 07437 122990 – we’ll do our best to respond as quickly as possible.

Are there restrictions to age and guest numbers?

Yes — to ensure the welfare of our animals and the quality of the experience, we do have a few important guidelines in place.
For children’s parties, we recommend a maximum of 15–20 children. This helps us minimise stress for the animals and allows each child to enjoy the experience safely and calmly. We kindly ask that you take this into account before finalising your guest list.
For safety reasons, our animal encounters are suitable for children aged 5 and above only. This age requirement helps us create an environment that is respectful to the animals and safe for all participants.
If you’re planning an event with more guests or special requirements, feel free to get in touch — we’re happy to discuss the best way to tailor the session to your needs.

Are you insured?

Yes — we are fully insured and licensed to operate as a mobile zoo.
We hold £1,000,000 in public liability insurance, as well as employers' liability insurance, to ensure the safety of both our team and your guests. We are also fully licensed by Hertsmere Borough Council, under licence number HBC-KTE-004.
In line with legal requirements and our commitment to transparency, we carry physical copies of our licence and insurance documents to every event. If you’d like to view them beforehand, we’re happy to provide copies upon request.
When choosing a mobile zoo for your event, we strongly recommend checking that the provider is properly licensed. This ensures legal compliance and guarantees that the company is regularly inspected to uphold the highest standards of animal welfare.

Can I have my party outside?

The feasibility of hosting encounters indoors or outdoors is contingent upon weather conditions and our discretion.
Should you opt for an outdoor setting for your party or event, it is imperative to arrange for a marquee or gazebo equipped with sides. This precaution is necessary due to the unpredictable nature of British weather.
Furthermore, we recommend having an available indoor space within your home as a contingency in case adverse weather conditions necessitate moving the event indoors.

Which animals will you bring?

We strive to foster an appreciation for a diverse range of animal species. Our presentations typically include a variety of mammals, reptiles, insects, and amphibians. Please note that the selection of animals we bring may be influenced by factors such as weather conditions and travel distance.
For further information regarding the animals featured in our current line-up, we invite you to visit our "Meet the Animals" page. There, you can peruse our guestlist and familiarize yourself with the fascinating creatures that may be part of our presentation.

How much space do you need?

Whether your event is at home or a hired venue, we can accommodate most indoor spaces with ease.
Our animals arrive in secure, discreet travel boxes, which are kept hidden behind our display posters until it’s time for their big reveal — adding a fun element of surprise for the guests!
We recommend having enough room for children to sit comfortably in a semi-circle, ideally on chairs, to ensure everyone has a clear view and a safe distance from the animals.
If you’re unsure about your space, feel free to send us a photo or description — we’re always happy to advise!

Can we stroke/pet all the animals?

For children’s parties, we prioritise both animal welfare and guest safety. To help keep our animals calm and avoid overhandling, we typically allow only the birthday child to hold each of the animals. The other children will still have the chance to gently stroke most of the animals under our supervision.
Please note: for safety reasons, our venomous species — such as the tarantula and scorpion — are not handled by any guests, including the birthday child. These animals are shown and discussed as part of the experience but remain securely held by our trained handler at all times.

Can we choose the animals we want?

If there’s a particular animal you’re hoping to see, please do let us know at the time of booking — we’ll do our very best to accommodate your request!
However, please note that we operate with a set guest list for each of our animal encounter packages. We also rotate specific animals to ensure their wellbeing and minimise stress, especially during busy periods or longer travel.
While we can’t guarantee the presence of every requested species, we always aim to bring a diverse and exciting line-up to every event.
Will the animals make a mess?

As amusing as it sounds, Pets at Home do not stock lizard or rodent nappies (yet!) — so we come prepared in our own way.
To protect your floors and furniture, we bring a large, wipeable ground sheet to cover the presentation area. In the rare event of an accident, our team will promptly clean up using appropriate disinfectants and animal-safe cleaning products.
Please be aware: as with any live animal experience, there is a small chance that a creature may urinate or defecate during handling. While we do our best to minimise this, it’s a natural part of working with animals — and part of the charm (or so we tell ourselves!).
By participating, guests accept this small risk as part of the Wild2You experience.
Are there any health and safety issues we should be aware of?

Yes — a full risk assessment is conducted upon arrival, before your event begins. This assessment is carried out by a trained team member and covers:
-
Any potential risks related to each animal
-
Escape prevention measures
-
Safety of participants
-
Welfare of the animals
We are committed to high standards of hygiene. Handwashing is strongly encouraged before and after interacting with the animals. To support this, we ask that handwashing facilities (or at minimum, sanitiser stations) are made available at your venue.
Throughout our presentations, we actively promote and remind guests of the importance of hand hygiene, especially when handling live animals.

Is photography allowed at the events?

Absolutely — we love when guests take photos during Wild2You encounters! You're welcome to capture the experience to remember and share.
However, we kindly ask that flash photography is kept to a minimum, particularly around some of our more visually sensitive mammals. Bright flashes can startle certain animals, and we strive to maintain a calm, comfortable environment for all our animal guests.
